The Sunset Pond (Books to Remember Series) ReviewI have tried out at least a half dozen phonics series, and most of them are dull, repetitive, and cartoonish. This one isn't.
The Sunset Pond is the first of the Books to Remember series of phonics stories. It's a wonderful short tale of a boy and his dog exploring the near-by pond. The language is elaborate, with real, 10+ word sentence - and it's 100% phonics controlled and decodable. My 4-year-old, who is just beginning to read, can decipher most of the words by her own, and is enthralled by the beautiful artwork that accompanies every one of these precious books.
I can't say enough about the Books to Remember series: I have recommended it to my daughter's Montessori preschool, and am eager to see them in the classrooms. For now, though, I treasure the wonderful times I get to spend with her exploring these beautiful little books.
